1993 Classic Draft Picks #46
Referee: unidentified
Player: Ervin Johnson
Opposing player: Clarence Weatherspoon, University of Southern Mississippi
Context Clues
Ervin Johnson played for New Orleans (American South and Sun Belt) from 1989-93 according to sports-reference.com.
I believe “USM” on the opposing player’s shorts stands for University of Southern Mississippi (Metro). If that is true, these teams matched up once during Johnson’s career:
Mon, Jan 22, 1990 Southern Mississippi @ New Orleans in the Kiefer Lakefront Arena
Comment from a reader:
“The opponent is the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. New Orleans only played them once during Johnson's collegiate career, a 77-75 double-overtime New Orleans win on January 22nd 1990. New Orleans' high scorer was Tony Harris with 23 points; Daron Jenkins led Southern Miss with 24. Clarence Weatherspoon had a game-high 15 rebounds. That's all I could find.
Not sure if it's Weatherspoon in the picture. He wore #35 with the Golden Eagles.”
